What is Artificial Grass? This type of synthetic grass is made of fibers that are non-toxic, durable, and resistant to matting. This article will discuss the benefits of artificial grass. It is an excellent choice for outdoor areas where traffic is high. In addition to being durable, artificial grass is also easy to maintain and resists matting. The pros outweigh the cons in this article. Read on for more information!

Artificial grass is made from synthetic fibers

Most artificial grass in the U.S. is produced in Dalton, Georgia, where the first artificial grass was woven using a traditional carpet loom. The chemistry of creating synthetic grass is simple: the fibers are composed of polymer, a material made of polyethylene, polypropylene, or nylon. It is then mixed with pigments and ultraviolet stabilizers and extruded into thin ribbons that have grass-like dimensions.

    Artificial Grass

To create an authentic and realistic looking turf, the artificial fibers must meet certain specifications. One of the most important criteria is the composition of synthetic grass fibers. The right mixture of fibers will make the turf resilient and durable, while maintaining its softness and resilience. Fiber thickness is measured in micrometers. Other factors to consider before buying an artificial grass include the polymer grade and the type of infill. These three factors will affect the durability, resilience, and color retention of the turf.

The most common types of artificial grass are green and have various pile heights. The synthetic fibers are stitched onto a backing material that simulates natural grass. To create a realistic looking artificial grass, newer types contain brown thatch to resemble dead grass on a real grass lawn. With new technology, the appearance of synthetic grass has improved greatly. The best quality artificial grass can be bought for under $400.

    It is non-toxic

The vast majority of artificial grass is made from petroleum products. Producing plastic is a highly energy-intensive process, requiring raw materials to be mined from deep within the earth. Fossil fuels have detrimental effects on the local physical environment, wildlife, and atmosphere. Petrochemical products are also carbon-heavy, generating waste and pollution during production and when they degrade in a landfill site. So how can we ensure that our artificial grass is non-toxic?

    Artificial Grass

For one thing, artificial grass doesn’t require watering. While grass lawns can get away with little or no watering plans, they can also become brown and unsightly during certain seasons. Besides, artificial grass is safer for kids and pets because it requires no fertilizer, pesticides, or similar products. Concrete, on the other hand, is not particularly toxic. However, if you don’t water the artificial grass, you may have to use water-based herbicides to maintain it.

Although synthetic grass is generally non-toxic, a few products may contain lead. Among the most common synthetic grass products are playground surfaces and family recreation areas. Recently, the Center of Environmental Health has conducted tests of artificial turf sold at Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and other retailers. In some cases, it has even tested artificial grass products sold by Bay area installers. The results have been unfavorable. Some people have been affected by lead exposure, which may be related to neurological development.

    It is easy to maintain

If you have pets, you may have noticed an extra mess or two on your new artificial grass. While bacteria rarely grows on natural sod, pet droppings and urine are a problem. If you notice pet waste, you can clean it up immediately with a pooper scooper or hose. Artificial grass doesn’t need the same level of maintenance, but cleaning it up regularly can help it look greener for longer.

    Artificial Grass

When mowing your artificial lawn, it’s essential to prevent weeds and mould from growing on it. These types of plants thrive on dead bugs and feces, so make sure you use a weed-killer at least every six months. Make sure to use a non-potent herbicide as strong chemicals can damage the synthetic fibres. Look for coloured spots. These spots are signs of mould growth and need to be treated. To remove these stains, you can spray hydrogen peroxide on them or use water.

While you’re outside, don’t forget to wipe up spills on your lawn. Food stains on artificial grass tend to be more visible in shaded areas, but you can use hydrogen peroxide to remove them. Be sure to rinse the area thoroughly after applying hydrogen peroxide, or you may end up with a discolored lawn. Afterwards, make sure to groom your lawn to keep it looking great.

    It resists matting

If you have a large yard, you may be interested in purchasing a synthetic grass floor. While you should choose a material that doesn’t stain easily, it is important to also protect it from being damaged by dropping food or animals. This type of turf is also not a good choice for pet owners. Finally, you should make sure to choose one that resists matting. Here are some tips to choose an artificial grass floor.

    Artificial Grass

Nylon: Nylon is the strongest artificial grass on the market. It’s also resistant to heat, so it won’t mat down or lose its shape even when the surface is hot. Nylon artificial grass can be used in many applications because it doesn’t absorb heat or fade easily. In addition, it won’t be damaged by sunlight, either. You can choose the type that works best for your needs. But remember, not all artificial grass is created equal.

    It resists static shocks

It is very important for the safety of your family and your home that you have artificial grass that resists static shocks. A static shock can harm your electronics if you are not careful. While the risk is very low, it is worth taking precautions to protect yourself from the danger. While mowing, walking, and sweeping your artificial grass, you may feel your shirt and arms pulling from static electricity. If this is the case, you should remove any metal conductors from your body and take the necessary precautions.

    Artificial Grass

Generally, artificial grass pitches feature seaming tapes under the edges. This tape is used to attach two pieces of synthetic grass. Synthetic grass pitches are made of tufted, woven, or knitted synthetic yarn. The pile height is usually 10 to 13mm. The tape may be fully adhered to the shock pad underneath. To achieve playability, the synthetic grass pitch must be wet. But there are some exceptions to this rule.

To make synthetic surfaces resistant to static shocks, you should add an antistatic additive. The antistatic additive works in conjunction with the granular infill to discharge static electricity. This additive prevents the known infill from becoming charged and spreading through the air. The static charge can spread through the air and affect performance. It is important to note that unfenced synthetic surfaces are more prone to contamination. For example, debris in shoe soles can cause the synthetic surfaces to be contaminated. The maintenance level of such surfaces must be very high as the environment will cause algae and moss growth.

    It is affordable

You can get a lawn that looks just like real grass for a fraction of the price. Using artificial grass will eliminate your battle with pests and other yard issues. For example, raccoons will destroy entire sections of natural grass as they feed on the grubs in the soil below. Furthermore, artificial grass won’t attract these pests because it doesn’t need rich soil to grow. Another advantage of artificial grass is its drought-tolerant properties. Because of this, it will save you money on water bills as well as encourage the conservation of water.

    Artificial Grass

You can find artificial grass that costs as little as $1 per square foot. The total cost of the project depends on the shape and size of your yard. If you are laying down a rectangular yard, you can expect to pay around $6 to $7 per square foot. However, if you have an irregularly-shaped yard, you may need to pay more because of waste. For this reason, you should factor in the cost of the installation in your overall budget.

Prices for grass installation vary considerably. Depending on the manufacturer and the type, it can cost anywhere from $3 to $9 per square foot. The cost can go as high as $7.50 per square foot, but most homeowners spend about $7.50 per square foot. Having a team of 4-5 people installed artificial grass will likely take two or three days. If you plan to do the job yourself, you can save money by doing some DIY projects that don’t require much knowledge of lawn installation.
